Artificial Intelligence, Digital Marketing, and Complementary Medicine

Artificial intelligence(AI) is gaining a bigger and stronger foot hold in several sectors of the U.S. economy.  Business applications in the areas of science research, law, face recognition, cyber security, marketing, and healthcare dominate the field. A report by Allied Market Research suggests that the AI market will reach $19.4 billion dollars by 2022 with an annual compounded growth rate of 45%. The huge growth is driven by the recent explosion of cloud computing, a drop in hardware costs, and the advancements in the science of artificial intelligence and hardware .  AI applications that run on a super computer are now accessible to any 10-year-old with an internet connection.

Artificial intelligence is a branch of computer science dealing with the simulation of intelligent behavior in computers. It is the combination of algorithms and machine learning techniques that give computers the ability to analyze data quickly and act on those data points. Computers efficiently generate predictive models and detect anomalies in the data. This allows computers and its handlers to act upon the information within minutes if not seconds. The two main sections of complementary medicine that will be most affected by AI are the areas of research and marketing.

Medicine across all specialties with its millions of data points will be the beneficiary of complex AI systems. Researchers can have an AI system analyze through language recognition systems the millions of studies and their results available in the public space. Additionally any naturopathic doctor, groups of NDs or any group of people for that matter, can now access the power of cloud computing and artificial intelligence at a reasonable cost. IBM, Amazon and Google are the current big players in providing the back bone structure and software solutions.  Startups in the sector are popping up each week delivering end user solutions to a variety of fields.  By collaborating and networking together, NDs and medicine in general can now share data to build models and identify opportunities for medical advancement in public health.

On the marketing side, AI will excel in analyzing ad spend, marketing efforts, and consumer online sentiments.  Those NDs that use Google AdWords, Bing or implement some sort of SEO and digital marketing effort will be able to utilize AI in evaluating the process and strategies they currently employ.  Two companies providing such services are Albert.AI and Anodot, each with features that allow for the analyses of your marketing data.

Why use AI?  AI can analyze your ad spend and discover anomalies and opportunities that traditional reporting would miss.  It also can operate within an alert system to detect anomalies in website performance and social sentiment that might take human analyzers hours, days or weeks to detect.  The application of AI towards the complementary field will most likely usher in a new age for the growing sector.
